On this course you will meet like-minded people who wish to express themselves through painting; people who want to explore their own emotional reactions to their subjects and understand better what drives them to paint.
Artists on the course should have some ideas on what they want to paint and what it is that inspires them and they will have some source material of their own to work from during the course. Although the course is essentially Studio Based it is in the beautiful environment of Shropshire England or Bergerac France and there will be opportunities to explore the local grounds both individually and in the group to seek inspiration to paint. Weather permitting the tutor plans some short walks and talks to help release the inspirational juices.. You may be challenged to consider other subject matter than your norm, and be given oppirtunities to explore new ideas and subjects– a real opportunity to get involved with your art.
Over the course the tutor will get to know each individual’s aspirations and will open new horizons through experiment. The tutor will encourage participants to explore their emtional reactions to their work and to paint from the heart. The course is challenging to painters but as ideas take hold their confidence will grow! Confidence to seek out how they really want to paint.
Painters will finish the course understanding better what is rewarding for them and will have more confidence to take their own direction.
The tutor uses watercolour but artists who use acrylic will have no problems. Artists should be familiar with their choosen medium but a comprehensive skills base is not required. THIS COURSE IS NOT TO TEACH TECHNIQUE but some new ideas could be introduced to students in order to help them achive their goal The main requirements for the course are an open mind, a willingness to participate in a group and to share one’s feelings, a willingness to make mistakes in order to learn, and a drive to find out how you want to paint.
